Mackenzie Releases Statement on Passage of House Budget

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania House of Representatives today approved a $28.3 billion budget plan for the 2013-14 fiscal year.  It will now go to the Senate for further deliberation.  Following the bill’s passage, Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Berks/Lehigh) released the following statement:

“The House has passed a fiscally sound, balanced budget proposal that focuses state government on its core priorities of education, public safety and job creation. We did so without raising taxes and by keeping increases in government spending well below the rate of inflation.

“This budget offers a record level of funding for K-12 education.  It also restores funding to conservation districts and would help reduce the waiting lists for those with intellectual disabilities who need assistance.  Additionally, dollars would be set aside to help those who suffer from diabetes, ALS, epilepsy and other such health problems.”

For a more detailed analysis of the budget proposal, please visit or see Mackenzie’s YouTube channel at for his latest edition of Legislative Report, which discusses the current budget process.
