LOWER MACUNGIE – In an effort to reduce the number of identity theft victims in the 187th Legislative District, especially among older residents, Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh) is teaming up with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General to host a seminar on Thursday, March 23, in New Tripoli.

The free event is scheduled to take place at 1:30 p.m. in the New Tripoli Fire Station at 7242 Decatur St.

“Identity theft continues to be one of the fastest growing crimes in the country. According to the most-recent numbers from the Federal Trade Commission, about 5.7 million reports of identity theft and fraud were made in 2021, which is a million more than the previous year,” said Mackenzie. “This seminar will provide information on the latest scams and how to avoid becoming a statistic.”

The seminar will be led by Dave Shallcross, director of senior protection with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. Topics to be covered at the event include what to do if one becomes a victim of identity theft, tips on how to protect personal information online and in everyday interactions, and guidelines on how to spot scams intended to steal one’s identity.

Reservations are required for this event and can be made by calling 610-965-9933 or 833-933-3675 (toll-free) or by registering online at RepMackenzie.com/events.
