Mackenzie Votes ‘Yes’ on 2018-19 State Budget
Budget prioritizes education, public safety, while saving money for future need
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Berks) today issued the following statement after House passage of the $32.7 billion state budget:

“Earlier today, I was pleased to vote in favor of a fiscally responsible budget that contains no new taxes or fees on Pennsylvania’s hard-working citizens.

“Due to a thriving national economy, revenue coming into the state is up. With business growth on the rise and unemployment hitting record lows, Pennsylvania is in a vastly better financial position than it was even two years ago.

“This budget puts more dollars into our education system in order to prepare today’s youth for tomorrow’s jobs. Contained in the budget is increased funding for basic education, special education, early childhood education, higher education, workforce development programs, and school safety initiatives.

“One of the highlights of the budget is the ability to direct money into the state’s savings account in order to help protect Pennsylvanians from tax increases during future times of need. This is the first time we have been in a position to add to the Rainy Day Fund in over a decade.”

Following passage in the House, House Bill 2121 now goes to the state Senate for approval. For more information on the budget, go to and click on “2018-19 State Budget.”
