Mackenzie Announces Veterans Designation Now Available on Driver Licenses and ID Cards
HARRISBURG – Formal implementation of a program giving former service members the ability to list their veteran status on their Pennsylvania’s driver licenses and state identification cards began this week, according to Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Berks/Lehigh).

Act 176 of 2012 established the veterans designation, making it available to anyone who is able to produce valid honorable military discharge papers. To qualify, an applicant must have served in the United States Armed Forces or a National Guard reserve unit.

“This program allows veterans to proudly display their honorable service to our nation while making it easier to demonstrate their eligibility for offers and discounts available to veterans,” said Mackenzie.

The designation is available to eligible veterans at no charge at the next date of renewal of their license or ID card. If they want the designation prior to their next renewal, they will have to pay a fee for a duplicate license. The fee for a basic duplicate driver’s license is $13.50; fees for other types of licenses vary. For additional information on the designation, please visit
