Mackenzie Announces Grants for Local Fire and Emergency Medical Services Companies
HARRISBURG – Fifteen fire and emergency medical services companies in the 134th District will receive a total of nearly $190,000 in grants from the state to help with emergency response activities, according to Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Berks/Lehigh).

“I salute the first responders in our area who dedicate themselves to keeping our communities safe,” said Mackenzie. “These grants will greatly aid them and their departments in their efforts to serve and protect the people of Berks and Lehigh counties.”

The grants are part of the Pennsylvania Fire Company and Ambulance Service Grant Program, which is administered by the Pennsylvania Office of Fire Commissioner within the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA). Over the past decade, it has provided millions of dollars to volunteer fire and emergency medical service units.

Fire and emergency medical services companies that serve the 134th District were awarded the following amounts:

Lehigh County 
• Alburtis Fire Company – $13,607.16
• Cetronia Ambulance Corps – $7,091.40
• Cetronia Fire Company No. 1– $13,607.16
• Emmaus Borough Ambulance Corps – $7,091.40
• Emmaus Fire Department – $13,619.31
• Good Will Fire Company No. 1 of Trexlertown – $13,619.31
• Lower Macungie Fire Department – $13,619.31
• Macungie Ambulance Corps – $7,091.40
• Macungie Volunteer Fire Department – $12,809.25
• Upper Macungie Township Station No. 56 – $13,458.11
• Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company – $13,619.31

Berks County 
• Bally Community Ambulance Association – $7,091.40
• Eastern Berks Fire Department – $40,077.85
• Hereford Fire Company – $13,619.31
• Community Fire Company of Seisholtzville – $12,545.98

As part of the grant program, recipients can use the funding to build, repair or renovate a fire company or ambulance service’s primary structure; purchase or repair firefighting, ambulance or rescue equipment; participate in training seminars and workshops; or pay down the organization’s debt.
